Career: Artist, Co-Founder of POW! WOW! HAWAII
Jasper Wong wears many hats. He’s an artist, illustrator, art director and curator. His work has been displayed in exhibitions all over the world, from China, France, Australia and more. However, most might know him as the creator and lead director of POW! WOW! HAWAII.
After attending college in California, Jasper moved to Hong Kong to learn more about the manufacturing industry. He would try to get his work in art exhibits, only to be told that he wasn’t the right type of “Chinese” artist. He thought to himself, “Why not open my own gallery?”
So that’s exactly what he did. Jasper found an abandoned restaurant on the outskirts of Hong Kong. After painting the walls white and adding some windows, he was ready to open his very first gallery. The name— POW! WOW! Festival.
